Home/ New Patients

Welcome to the practice. We're glad you're here.

Your first visit is the beginning of a long-term partnership in your oral health. Here's exactly what to expect, what to bring, and how we make modern dental care fit your life and your budget.

Your first visit

An hour and a half to get acquainted.

We've designed your first appointment around getting to know you — not selling you a treatment plan. Plan on 60–90 minutes for a comprehensive new-patient visit. You'll meet our front-desk team, sit down with one of our hygienists, and leave with a clear, personalized understanding of where your oral health stands.

If you're nervous, please tell us. We see anxious patients every day, and we'll set the pace together — gentle hands, clear explanations, and the time you need to feel comfortable in the chair. There are no surprises here, and no pressure to commit to anything before you're ready.

After your visit, Dr. Scarlett will sit with you to walk through her findings, answer every question, and — if treatment is recommended — present a plan with transparent pricing and flexible options.

What to expect

Your new-patient appointment, step by step.

Every patient is different, but the rhythm of a first visit at Brookehavenv2 follows a thoughtful, unhurried order. Here's what your time with us looks like.

  1. 01

    A warm welcome

Arrive about ten minutes early. Our front-desk team will greet you, offer a beverage, and confirm your paperwork. If you've completed your forms online, this part takes only a moment.

  2. 02

    Health history conversation

We'll review your medical and dental history together — medications, prior treatments, concerns, goals. Your story matters; even small details help us tailor your care.

  3. 03

    Digital x-rays & photos

Modern, low-radiation digital imaging gives Dr. Scarlett a complete view of your teeth, roots, and bone. We'll also take a few intraoral photos so you can see exactly what we see.

  4. 04

    Comprehensive exam

A thorough evaluation of your teeth, gums, bite, and jaw — plus a complimentary oral cancer screening. We check for decay, wear patterns, and early signs of issues that are easier to treat now than later.

  5. 05

    Professional cleaning

For most healthy patients, we'll complete a gentle, thorough hygiene visit at your first appointment. If we discover anything that calls for a different approach, we'll explain why and reschedule what's needed.

  6. 06

    Personalized review with Dr. Scarlett

We sit down — actually sit down — and walk through what we found, what we recommend, and what's optional. Every question is welcome. You leave understanding exactly what's happening in your mouth and why.

  7. 07

    A plan built with you

Together we sketch a treatment plan that respects your goals, your schedule, and your budget. Pricing is laid out clearly, and our team will help you understand insurance coverage and financing before you commit.

Schedule Your First Visit
How long will my first appointment take?
Plan on 60 to 90 minutes. That includes paperwork, x-rays, a comprehensive exam, your cleaning (in most cases), and a sit-down conversation with Dr. Scarlett to discuss what we found.
Do you accept my insurance?
We accept most major PPO dental insurance plans. Call us with your member information before your appointment and we'll verify your coverage and out-of-pocket estimate as a courtesy.
What if I don't have insurance?
No problem at all. Many of our patients pay out of pocket, and we offer fair, transparent fees plus financing through CareCredit and in-house payment plans for larger treatments.
Will I get x-rays at the first visit?
Yes — modern digital x-rays are essential for a complete picture of your oral health. They're quick, low-radiation, and we can show them to you on-screen as we go. If you have recent x-rays from a previous dentist, send them ahead and we may be able to use those.
I have dental anxiety. What do you offer?
Tell us upfront and we'll plan your visit around your comfort. Our team is gentle and patient by nature, and we offer nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation for patients who'd like an extra layer of relaxation.
Can the whole family come in together?
Yes — we love family appointments and will do our best to schedule everyone back-to-back. We welcome patients age four and older.
Do I need a referral?
Not at all. Just call, send a message, or use our contact form to schedule. If you have an HMO insurance plan that requires a referral, we'll let you know how to obtain one when we verify benefits.
When do I pay for treatment?
Payment for your portion is collected at the time of service. For larger treatment plans, we'll discuss payment timing — including in-house plans and financing — well before any work begins.
What's your cancellation policy?
Life happens — we just ask for 48 hours' notice if you need to reschedule, so we can offer the time to another patient. Repeated late cancellations may incur a small fee, which we'll always communicate up front.
Will I be pressured into treatment?
Never. Dr. Scarlett presents her recommendations clearly, with priorities and options, and you choose the pace. We're here for the long haul; the right time for you is the right time for us.
